I have always been told to find your passion and follow it, but I haven’t taken a typical journey in finding my passion or in following it. I was a person who grew up knowing who I wanted to be, but not what I wanted to be. Entering college immediately after high school, I quickly realized that I had no idea what I really wanted to do. I took a few steps back and entered the work world while continuing my education part time.
About three and a half years ago I landed at Microsoft Licensing (MSLI) and worked for a small vendor company out of Redmond before Kurt and the Apex team picked our team up. While at MSLI I have learned more than I thought possible and have slowly but surely continued my education. While here I have also found and developed my passion, graphic design.
Kurt and the Apex family have encouraged me to continue my education and have at every opportunity opened doors for me to pursue my passion both on the job and at school. Recently I was asked to enter a design competition and thanks to my direct manager, I was able to take the time I needed to fill out the forms and touch up my work.
A few weeks ago I received word that my design had in fact won an award at the ADDYs a competition for designers throughout local and national markets run through the American Advertising Federation. Now that I have won an award at the local level, my work with go on to be judged at the Regional and National Levels. No one was happier for me than, Toni Gore-Plyman, my direct manager.
Apex has made it possible for me to go to school, pursue my passion and gain work experience. I’m so thankful for all the doors they have opened as well as the continued interest in helping me achieve my future goals. Thank you!
My winning design!
