Tech is good.

Tech is good started as a wild idea by our President and founder, Kurt Frohlich – all he knew was that he wanted to find a way to give back to the Northern Nevada communities that supported his various business ventures, including  Apex Performance Solutions, for the last 10 years, and his family for much longer than that.  After throwing many ideas at the wall with nothing sticking, a drawing on a piece of legal paper seemed to hang on.  It was of an older “tech geek” – complete with pens in the front pocket of a shirt – with the words “Tech is good!” scrawled underneath.  He had no idea how Tech is good would evolve, but with that (admittedly terrible) drawing, the Tech is good movement was born.

Kurt decided he wanted to make an impact in the lives of local kids by offering scholarships and computers to those who didn’t have as much access to them as others.  To help support the cause, he wanted to create a branded product line where net proceeds would go directly back into the Tech is good scholarship fund.  Hopefully, the community would be willing to join in his efforts, and they would want to support both Tech is good and its cause.

A philanthropic endeavor first and product line second, Tech is good’s main goal is to bring a tangible impact, both to donors and recipients, rather than simply providing an outlet to donate to a cause where concrete results are harder to see.  Technology will continue to grow and evolve, and we think it’s important to bring it into the lives of those who may not otherwise have it.   Whether it means donating refurbished computers to needy schools, or sending a student majoring in a tech-related field to college on a scholarship, Tech is Good has plans to change lives in a big way.  It’s Tech. Inspired.
